FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY PROGRAMS

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

The Uintah City Fire Department personnel, along with a fire engine, will visit your pre-school and introduce students to age appropriate fire and life safety skills, provide a tour of the fire engine, and demonstrate how a firefighter looks dressed in full gear.This program is approximately 60 minutes in length (30 minutes inside the classroom and then 30 minutes outside with the firefighters and fire engine).If you would like to schedule a program, please obtain the following information and contact the department at prevention@uintahfd.org

GRADE SCHOOL PROGRAM

Firefighters will visit your elementary school and teach school age children important fire and life safety skills as well as learn about the equipment firefighters use to help injured people and put out fires.This program is approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length.If you would like to schedule a grade school safety program, please obtain the following information and contact the department at prevention@uintahfd.org

HIGH SCHOOL COOKING SAFETY PROGRAM

Cooking fires are the leading cause of reported home fires and injuries in the US, according to NFPA. By following a few safety tips, you can prevent a cooking fire. UFD will schedule a speaker to talk to your students about cooking safety. During this program, students will:

  • Be able to recognize kitchen hazards
  • Describe correct behaviors when cooking
  • Describe correct steps in putting out a small pan fire
  • Describe how to properly operate a portable fire extinguisher

SENIOR SAFETY PROGRAM

The UFD offers a Senior Fire & Fall Prevention program that focuses on fire and fall prevention, while emphasizing health and wellness. Program topics may include:

  • 9-1-1
  • Cooking safety
  • Fall prevention
  • Heating and electrical safety
  • Home escape planning
  • Smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm information
  • Medication and sharps disposal information
  • Vial of Life
  • And referral information for a variety of health and human services that are available to seniors within Weber County.

This safety program also includes a question/answer session with local firefighters and a tour of a fire engine if so desired.This program last approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours.If you would like to schedule a senior safety program, please obtain the following information and contact the department at prevention@uintahfd.org
