MEDICATION DISPOSAL

DO NOT FLUSH MEDICATIONS DOWN THE TOILET!

MedDisposalToiletLever2Although this was a practice used in the past, new studies show that prescription and over-the-counter drugs are not  completely removed when passing through wastewater treatment plants.  Harm to marine and plant life can be caused by  improper disposal.

Weber County Unwanted Medication Drop-Off Program offers residents a convenient and environmentally-friendly  alternative to flushing or throwing away pills, expired medications, medicinal liquids, controlled substances or illegal  drugs. Residents now have multiple locations where they can safely dispose of medications, as well as controlled  substances, with no questions asked.

In a joint effort with Weber Human Services and the Weber-Morgan Health Department, this collection and disposal program provides an environmentally safe alternative to disposing of medications in the landfill systems, which may later negatively affect the environment.  This program also encourages citizens to remove their unneeded medications from their homes.  This reduces access to addictive medications for accidental or intentional misuse or children in the home.
